MY MOM KNOWS HER STUFF, 2020
Single-Channel, HD Video, Color, Sound
15:41 min

I playfully probe my mother’s connection to “stuff” by blindfolding and challenging her to identify, by touch alone, various "tchotchkes" that survived the flooding of her home during a hurricane. From wine-drinking Christmas dolls to Santa's trash can filled with fake fruit, the exercise goads my mother's wit while she proves a close connection to her things.

This work is part of a larger body of work connected to the flood.

Video projection of a woman putting her hands into a box to touch a small red trashcan containing a blue plastic bag and piece of fruit. The front of the trash can is decorated with a Santa on the front.
